TMCA to hold seminar on modern art
The seminar will be held on the sidelines of the Modern Art Movement exhibition, which opened in December. Two hundred and sixty-eight works by 163 artists from the Iranian collection of the TMCA are on display in the exhibition, which runs until early February.
Experts and artists Mehdi Hosseini, Javad Mojabi, Zahra Rahnavard, Mohammad-Amin Mirfendereski, Gholam-Hossein Nami, Aidin Aghdashlu, Hushang Kazemi, Ahmad Nadalian, Nosratollah Moslemian, Morteza Gudarzi, and Hossein Khosrojerdi are scheduled to deliver lectures during the seminar.
The rise of Iranian modern art, women’s role in Iranian modern art, the social and intellectual background of Iranian modern art, traditional attitudes in Iranian modern art, and paintings with themes based on the Islamic Revolution are some of the subjects which will be discussed during the seminar.
In August and September 2005, masterpieces of American and European artists from the TMCA’s collection were displayed in a similar exhibition, which was described by the media as the first event of its kind to be held in Iran in more than two decades.
